Another day in paradise - a couple of boat dives at Klein Bonaire, at divesites Hands off and Just a nice dive drifting towards Jerrys Reef (or Turle haven..) Although we managed to see no turtle today, still beautiful - especially lucky with little shrimp on purple and orange coral/anemone. Very little current today so managed to get a few good shots passing by. Including pictures from last week visit to Jerrys reef when we had a VERY nice turtle encounter.
Bonaire
BREAKING NEWS:
The Scubadooby creature has been off course once before, and this year there are signs of proof that this might happen again... Not so much off course though, still along the golf stream the creature has drifted to the Bahamas!
The creature seem to be more and more dependent on water, moving down from the hills to the beach in Bonaire last year, the creature now actually will rest ON the water when surfacing from the deep. It has become rather sociable and will be spending time on a sailboat with very goood friends and UW-creatures whenever up to dry up. Since this implies less WIFI connectivity, time will show if the Scubadooby are able to transmit signals to the rest of the world. The creature is still closely attached to new friend Precious, and hopefylly this symbiosis will result in images of the UW-scenery for landlocked creatures to enjoy - stay tuned :)
The Bahamas is an archipelagic state consisting of more than 700 islands, cays and islets in the Atlantic and is located southeast of Florida, north of Cuba and Haiti and northwest of the Turks and Caicos.

Not much time for blogging under water...
Since we can't stay out of the water, the blog is suffering.., Been busy (20 dives so far...) - but here's the highlights from our last dive today - at Something special, just across the road from Gooodive dive shop + a nice turtle encounter this morning at Cliff. Twice we've been out looking for this odd creature and finally it paid off - frogfish - one yellow and one pink. Tiny creatures and masters of camuflage you need to know where too look. The photographers reward when you finally find them - they just sit still and pose!

A thousand steps
Jumping in at Oil Slick Leap in the morning - drying up and exhaling nitrogen at beach at A thousand steps - then into water to stock up on nitrogen - and going up a thousand steps in the afternoon, - not really thousand steps but carrying dive equipment all the way up the steep stairs it may feel like..
Trying out some macro today - christmas tree worms and tiny fish - blenny peaking out of a small hole and a little filefish-baby hiding in the coral grass gardens amongst photo subjects. And some coral landscapes - will find my wideangle lens tomorrow - difficult to get all in, especially when Stein sneaks in in every photo.... Got a few good shots of his brain though....
And a couple of barracuda :) Also we saw a Palometa - but unfortunately not framed in a picture..

Drifting against the current in Washington Slagbai...
Out with the boat the whole day to go diving in Washington Slagbai National Park - far north on the island. Goood day out with one dive at Playa Funchi, the other at Carls vision. Quite unpredictable currents so on the first dive we had a proper work-out paddling against the current... Difficult to take good pictures, but ONE good picture makes us happy :) Kelly spotted a couple of crabs and Costeau framed one of them nicely :)
Also - we met our first fellow norwegian viking diver on the boat - in all the years we've been here we've met no other norwegians...

It's lobster night!
Maybe it was the full moon - tonight the lobsters were coming out of their holes and walking the reef of Tolo/Ol Blue. As the sun set we entered the water with our torches ready for some critters and exitement, hoping for octopus+++++. No octopus, but still - great nightdive - apart from lobsters some large and beautiful basket stars. During the day the basket stars are curled up in a ball, but at nigh they hang and spread their "arms" out to feed on whatever passes by (not us...). And when the flash light up the reef at night - great colours!
And - we spotted and killed some lionfish ;)
